How I make sure every dog is a safe, happy fit.
Not every dog is suited to group walks, and not every service is the right fit for every dog. My selective screening and risk assessment process protects every dog in my care — yours included. Here is the journey every new client goes through before the first booking.
Enquiry & Consultation
Every new client starts with a no-obligation chat. We discuss your dog's routine, your needs, and which service is the right fit — individual walk, group walk, home visit, or pet sitting.
Dog Intake Form
You complete a detailed intake form covering health, behaviour, temperament, reactivity, and legal status. This gives me a full picture of your dog before we ever meet.
Verification & Risk Assessment
I verify vaccinations, flea & worm treatment, microchip, and banned-breed legal status (Dangerous Dogs Act 1991). I then assess your dog's temperament against route hazards and group compatibility.
Trial Walk
We arrange a trial walk to confirm suitability in the real environment. For group walks, this is where I confirm your dog is comfortable alongside the other dogs — before any commitment.
What I check, every time
This process keeps every dog safe — and it is why I will always be honest if a service is not the right fit for your dog. Your dog's welfare comes first, always.
Start Intake FormYour dog's safety is non-negotiable.
Leaving your dog with someone new is a big decision. These are the standards and protections behind every HillTop Hounds walk and visit — so you can relax knowing your pet is in fully qualified, insured hands.
Fully Insured
Comprehensive public liability and care, custody & control (CCC) insurance, so your dog is protected on every walk and visit.
DBS Checked
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate, giving you full confidence that your pet and home are in safe, trusted hands.
Pet First Aid Trained
Trained in canine first aid and CPR, so I can respond calmly and correctly if your dog ever needs help on a walk.
Risk Assessments
Every walking route and each dog's individual needs are assessed in advance to keep walks safe and enjoyable.
Secure Key Handling
Your keys are kept securely and never labelled with your address — your home's security matters as much as your pet.
Small Group Sizes
I never walk more than six dogs at once, so every dog gets the attention, control, and care they deserve.
Risk Assessment Process
Before any dog joins HillTop Hounds, I carry out a structured risk assessment covering the dog's temperament, medical needs, behavioural history, and legal status. Each walking route is assessed for hazards — livestock, water, traffic, and trigger exposure — and group compositions are reviewed for compatibility before every walk.
- Pre-service behavioural & temperament assessment
- Route hazard mapping reviewed seasonally
- Group compatibility checked before each walk
- Ongoing reassessment as needs change
Selective Screening Process
Not every dog is suited to group walks, and not every service is the right fit for every dog. I operate a selective screening process to ensure each dog is placed in the environment where they will thrive — whether that's a group walk, a solo walk, or a home visit. This protects every dog in my care.
- Mandatory intake form covering health & behaviour
- Vaccination, flea & worm status verified
- Banned-breed & legal status check (DDA 1991)
- Trial walk to confirm suitability before commitment

Your questions, answered.
Common questions about pricing, safety, and how dog walking works with HillTop Hounds in Bromsgrove.
Individual 30-minute walks start from £12, with 60-minute walks from £18. Group walks are £15 for 60 minutes. Home visits start from £10 for a 15-minute pop-in. Full pricing is listed above — and your first walk is completely free so you can see if we're the right fit.
Yes. I hold full public liability and care, custody & control insurance up to £5,000,000, and I am DBS-checked and canine first-aid certified. Your dog's safety is my highest priority.
A maximum of 6 dogs per handler on group walks, so every dog gets proper attention and control. Individual walks are strictly one-to-one.
Off-lead walks are available with your written consent and only after a suitability assessment. I always carry a lead and keep your dog under close control near roads and livestock.
I cover Bromsgrove town centre and surrounding areas including Barnt Green, Alvechurch, Catshill, Burcot, Lickey, Rednal, Rubery and Wythall. If you're unsure whether I reach you, just ask.
I am happy to administer medication as part of home visits and pet sitting, provided you give clear instructions. This is included at no extra charge.
Absolutely. I tailor every walk and visit to the individual dog — shorter, gentler walks for puppies and seniors, with plenty of breaks and water. Puppy induction visits are available to help with routine and socialisation.
Just contact me by email or through the contact form and we'll arrange a free initial consultation. Payment can be made by bank transfer or cash, weekly or monthly — whatever suits you best.
No. HillTop Hounds provides dog walking (individual and group), home visits, and pet sitting in your own home — we do not offer day care, day boarding, or any drop-off or stay-over facility service. It's worth knowing that in England, providing dog day care or dog boarding (including home boarding) is a licensable activity under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018. Any business offering these services must hold a valid licence issued by their local council, and a full register of licensed providers is held by each council on request. Insurance alone does not make a provider legal — a council licence is the primary legal requirement, and insurance sits alongside it. We'd always recommend checking a provider's council licence first, confirming their insurance second, and only then considering whether their service is the right fit for your dog.
